[ Story for Building ]
A school without a multipurpose auditorium or gym wanted to plan a space with multiple functions. The site first proposed by the school was a place with a temporary building made of panels on top of a retaining wall about 14 meters high, about 4 to 5 meters below the school building. The first impression of the site was whether a large-scale building could be located in such a place, and it was questionable whether the retaining wall could support the building. Regarding the proposal to use the playground, it was said that it was too far from the school building and accessibility was poor due to the location where it went up and down.
The initial plan was to place the building in a floating position by supporting the pillars outside without touching the retaining wall as much as possible. An initial plan was made through collaboration with a structural engineer several times, but as a result of detailed structural review of the retaining wall, it was difficult to withstand structurally and the construction cost that was initially proposed was far short of it, so it was decided to reexamine the location of the extension.
